What is an asbestos survey?

An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of a property, looking for known asbestos materials (3000+) that were used in construction from 1920 to 1999, all 'suspect' materials found are photographed and sampled for the report. The asbestos materials are subject to an assessment of risk and recommendations for what you need to do about them (if anything) will be detailed, in plain English, to give you a clear usable document.

We don't simply report the materials and leave you to figure what you need to do, as others do, our reports will detail these materials and supply the right type and amount of information (HSG264) that will allow continued use of the building in a safe manner.

Removal is not usually recommended as the most common asbestos materials are low risk and can be safely left in place, if you are planning to refurbish the building, guidance will be supplied in the report regarding the type and extent of control measures required to carry out the work, from a simple 'baby wipe' decontamination to employing fully licensed contractors. I no longer carry out licensed removals, so I do not create expensive unnecessary work for myself as others often do!.

Asbestos surveys of commercial buildings built before 1999 has been a legal requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 since the 2006 revision of the former Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987.
